Adding tags to a record

To add tags to a record, simply enter the names of relevant tags/pages in square brackets, e.g. Open Access, Repositories.

When you click on "Save page" these tags will be displayed either in blue, which means the tag already exists, or in red (e.g. dummypage) which means the tag/page does not exist, and you have to create it. Click on it and follow the suggestions below.

Creating a new subject/tag/page

Subjects are represented by pages in the wiki.

The suggested layout for a subject-page is as follows:

definition, relations
Links
Records
<oairecords>Name of subject</oairecords>

Definition, relations

A definition of this subject or tag can be given here. Relations to other tags can also be given in the form of links to other pages in colLib. Relations can be expressed using terms from traditional thesauri, like "Broader term, Narrower term, See also, Use, Used for"; or they can be expressed in free text.

To create a link to a page in this wiki, enter the name of the page in square brackets: MARC, Interlibrary loan, Open Access.

Links

Links to relevant, off-site information can be collected under a Links-heading. See "Other templates" below on how to create some special links to other wikis.

Records

All the records with this tag should be displayed here. This is done by enclosing the name of the tag with <oairecords>tag</oairecords>.

To save time and typing, and perhaps avoid some errors, it is possible to use the S-template when a new subject-page is started. This is done by entering in a page, and then saving it. The page should then imediately be edited again, which will reveal that the page now contains the skeleton of a subject-page. The correct name of the new page should be inserted between the oairecord-tags, and the correct category should be substituted for ChangeMe at the bottom. Have a look at the source of some existing pages to get an impression of what it should look like.

Category:Subjects

All subject-pages should include the literal string to be listed on the Subjects-page. For other categories that might be relevant, see Categories.

Other templates

The following templates are available for creating links to wikis and other web sites that have a page with the same name (about the same subject):

 • liswiki LISWiki
 • wikipedia The English Wikipedia
 • The English Wikipedia - Use this one if the page that you want to link to on Wikipedia has a different name than the page on colLib. Give the name of the Wikipedia-page as the argument to "page="
 • delicious del.icio.us
 • CiteULike - the CiteULike-tag that you want to link to should be given as the argument to "tag="
 • Connotea - the Connotea-tag that you want to link to should be given as the argument to "tag="

Enter any of these at the top of a page, and a nicely formatted link will be created in the right margin of the page. See e.g. Interlibrary loan for an example.

Redirects

Redirects should be used from non-preffered to preferred terms. See Help:Redirect in the Handbook for more information about redirects.

Example

To redirect from Web (non-preffered) to WWW (preffered), create a page for Web that contains only the following text:

#REDIRECT WWW
