Who's behind it?
colLib has been created and is maintained by Magnus Enger, a masters-student in Science of Documentation, University of Tromsø, Norway - as part of a project that will explore the concept of Overlay in relation to the OAI-PMH.
What's the point?
colLib is set up as an experiment in order to explore whether documents in OAI-PMH-compliant Repositories can be organized by end users. In order to do this, colLib is a fusion between an OAI-PMH service provider and a wiki.
What are the criteria for success?
colLib will be seen as a success if the following criteria are met by late 2005:
- ... the growth in records that have been assigned tags is higher than the growth in new records. Or to put it differently: if the percentage of untagged records decreases over time.
- ... users are able to fight spam in a successfull way.
- ... feedback is predominantly positive.
For how long will colLib be maintained?
colLib will be kept alive at list until the summer of 2007, i.e. at least two years from it's release date.
